About WAGLY Peer Leadership

This year we were fortunate to receive three grants to support our WAGLY peer leadership program. The Foundation for MetroWest’s Fund for Wellesley; The Church Home Society; and The Boston Pride Community Fund all provided funding to this powerful initiative. Through the program, up to a dozen WAGLY youth participants are selected to be part of a cohort of peer leaders. For a year, they work together on developing leadership skills, facilitating WAGLY meetings, and contributing to the community at large. A few highlights of this year’s program have included a leadership development retreat with The Venture Out Project; The AGLY Network conference at UMass Amherst; and volunteering at an event for LGBTQ families. The peer leaders have lots more to accomplish before a new cohort begins this spring, but they’ve already done so much to make WAGLY a welcoming community for their peers.
