Medfield teen finds support, education, with outreach program

Categories. Preconceived notions. Labels. Assumptions.

These are concepts which Elle, a teenage girl from Medfield, has struggled with when it came to her sexual identity. She identifies as a girl who likes other girls, and with that has come a number of questions as people try to find the right label for her.

Shouldn’t she be more masculine? Why does she have long hair? Isn’t she too feminine?

It was these and other struggles which led her to search for support groups for teens facing the same challenges. That search led her to the West Suburban Alliance of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Youth [WAGLY].
