In September 2017, we embarked upon a strategic planning process to address OUT MetroWest’s growing operational needs and desire to serve more LGBTQ+ youth. Our strategic planning committee included staff, board members, and a parent volunteer. With support from The Sudbury Foundation and guidance from strategic planning consultants, we began by undertaking an institutional assessment to understand the strengths, weaknesses, and perceptions of OUT MetroWest.

In August 2018, our board and strategic planning committee held a joint retreat. At the retreat, we used the assessment data to define four major goals for the next three years, along with strategies for achieving them. Following the retreat, the strategic planning committee met regularly for several months. Its first task was to craft a new mission statement and organizational values. Then it further defined the strategies, action steps, and budget needed to meet the goals set forth at the August retreat.

The result of these meetings was a strategic plan that will guide the work and priorities of OUT MetroWest through June 2022.
