Youth of Color Hangout
Youth of Color Hangout is our program for LGBTQ+ youth in grades 6-12 who identify as Black, Indigenous, or Youth of Color, including mixed race youth. Cisgender, straight allies are welcome in this space that explicitly centers LGBTQ+ youth.
Meetings provide a social and supportive space for youth to explore questions related to sexual orientation, gender, race, and ethnicity. Meetings include check-ins, group discussions, and assorted fun activities. Meetings are facilitated by LGBTQ+ adults and peer leaders of color.
While Youth of Color Hangout isn’t a therapeutic program, a clinician of color from Wayside Youth & Family Support Network is on-site at meetings for those youth in need of extra support.
You don’t need to RSVP to attend Youth of Color Hangout, and all meetings are offered free of charge. Meetings are conducted in English. If you require interpretation, please reach out to us about available options. If you have any other questions prior to attending, please review these FAQs or email our program staff.
